Yesterday at my kids' old public elementary school, there was an incident. The police had been chasing a man up and down the road. They called ahead to tell the school to lock down. And sure enough, the man turned into the school parking lot. There were 15 police cars, fire, ambulance, etc. They then handcuffed the guy and hauled him off. Thankfully, he never even tried to get in the school.
We have some church friends who still go there. He is in 3rd grade and said that the substitute teacher was so scared because she didn't have the key to lock the door. So another teacher helped her. She then put all the kids in the back of the class like protocol but then she hid in the back, too leaving this little boy on the front of the group. He said the teacher was freaking out. Little girls were crying. He then said "We just need to pray." So he did and another girl joined in with her Catholic prayer. And guess what.....no teacher...no student tried to stop them. They had no idea what was going on outside or that they had the man in custody. (I still don't know what he did to be running in the first place) But when something happens like that.....there is lots of prayer in schools.
I was sooo thankful to be homeschooling.

So prayer is allowed only when they NEED or WANT something.

How wonderful that the boy tho't to pray!  His parents must be so proud!  What a great testimony.  Children are allowed to pray in school.  It's the teachers that can't lead the children in prayer. 

My granddaughter bro't a missionary to school for show and tell in K.    Another time she bro't her AWANA book (or something like that) and the assistant told her it wouldn't be allowed.  We were all over that one, but the regular teacher said there'd been a misunderstanding and of course it would be allowed.
