So nice to hear a voice of reason out of the medical profession.     Good article.  I hope I can find it again when needed.

It really is difficult, in my opinion, to know what is true, right and best when it comes to such things. I am a researcher by nature, and I find so much conflicting information in all areas of health and wellness (not to mention all areas of life ). McDougall says..., Mercola says... medical expert x says..., medical expert y says... KWIM? Depending on who we trust, know, understand, we can be swayed to believe just about anything. We can see great results with someone and jump on the bandwagon because we so dearly desire the same results, yet that approach may be counterproductive to what we need with our own body. Some things are "one size fits all" so to speak, while others are dangerous if approached in this manner.

For example: Linda S. is having wonderful results with McDougall's eating plan approach. I have found that with my body, this approach has the opposite effect as what she is experiencing. I have a df who would probably have the same results as Linda. Her whole family does well with the higher carb diet. I tried following a similar menu plan they ate regularly, and it was disasterous for my body and many of my family members. That was when I had to step back and, once again realize that there really are different body types, digestive or whatever types. We can not always approach all things from the same direction and get the same end results.

So how do we know for sure when a certain approach is "best for all"? I have long disagreed with the mammogram, colonosopy invasions... not in all circumstances but as a routine approach. What may be warranted in one may cause trauma to another. Does this make sense? I have butted heads with my own Mother over such issues as she is all about getting every routine exam done and pushes for everyone needing them all just because it was right/what she thought was "right" for her.

Okay, I'm starting to confuse myself, so I am done. If you can decipher my message and have imput, feel free.

colonoscopies doctors have been having people get them that do not need them, I have never had one. My dh had one because he has diverticulitis and they needed to check out his colon for polyps and he had several of them.

I donot have diverticulitis  and donot plan on having a colonoscopy because they want the money from the insurance company.

Yes every body has a different way that they lose weight. Everyone has to do what they feel is right for them.

I have never really cared for meat period, and with mad cow disease, that did it for me.

DH and DD do not eat a lot of meat, >>>>turkey<<<< , chicken ground chicken is it,

I do not buy bacon, ham, stuff like that anymore.

I have DD eating baked tortilla chips now with her salsa. rather than fried stuff.

I donot use oil anymore either, one thing it cost an arm and a leg at the grocery store. More than a gallon of gasoline.

How has this week been for you eating wise?

Overall I have been eating well. I have had a few meals that were not ideal but they were made special as late birthday celebrations, so I ate, enjoyed and now do not desire this type of eating for a while. I've also had some of the kids' candy, but finding it is not as pleasurable as it once was. I find all this to be good.

I have found that eating my yogurt first thing in the morning followed by oatmeal with raisins after that I am feeling pretty good. I usually then want a salad and fruit later in the day instead of other foods. I eat whatever I am making for supper and that usually ends up being some meat and lots of veges. All this is making me feel better.
