The Wonder of Christmas By Dandi Daley Mackall. Illustrated by Dave Hill. Hardcover, 32 pages, $12.99. Published by Concordia Publishing House. Please support HomeschoolChristian.com by buying this book from our Christian Book Distributors link or our Amazon link.

The Wonder of Christmas uses the backdrop of a children's Christmas pageant to help children think about the people and angels involved in Christ's birth. As the play is set up and acted out, the reader is invited to "wonder" what those who were present at the time of the Annunciation and in Bethlehem thought and felt. The book then suggests what the reader should feel: wonder and love of Christ.

Recommendation: The Wonder of Christmas is the most meaningful Christmas picture book I have seen in a long time. With a patient and purposeful reading, the book will convey the true meaning of Christmas in terms that a child will understand. It also will ignite the child's imagination for what a wonder-filled time Christ's birth must have been.
