The Holy Week Book, by Reverend C.E. Visminas. Staple-bound, 24 pages, $9.95. Published by Morehouse Publishing. Out of print. Please check for availability at Alibris or AbeBooks.

In The Holy Week Book Reverend Visminas uses detailed historical background to create an interesting study of Jesus' final week. She explains Jewish customs and history in light of Christ's activities and expresses why Jesus caused such a stir in ancient Jerusalem. Each section begins with some Scripture selections to read from your Bible. Then, Rev. Visminas discusses what happened in the Scripture and compares and contrasts some of the seemingly conflicting information in the Gospels. Fulfillment of prophecy is a strong topic for the study. Each section ends with a set of thought-provoking questions that send the student back to the Bible for answers. The book is illustrated with line drawings, diagrams, and maps.

Recommendation: The Holy Week Book s a stimulating Bible study that would be great for families with older children, youth groups, and adults. The fascinating historical information allows the student to have a strong mental image of Christ's time and to get a better understanding of our Lord's final week and resurrection. The Holy Week Book is not fancy, but it is an outstanding scholarly study that will leave you feeling mentally and spiritually fulfilled.
