Celebrate Jesus! at Christmas includes "family devotions for Advent through Epiphany." Each of the five sections for the weeks of Advent and the days leading to Epiphany begins with a materials list, some background information, and "Let's Live It," suggestions for implementing the principles discussed during devotions. Daily activities include lighting the candles in the advent wreath, reading a selection from the Bible, singing a song (sheet music is included,) a brief thought-provoking lesson, and an ending prayer. The entire devotional time is fifteen to twenty minutes.

An advent wreath and a nativity scene are two crucial components of the celebration. The candles in the wreath, representing Christ being the light of the world, are given the names "Promise," "Angel," "Bethlehem," and "Shepherd" in Celebrate Jesus! at Christmas. Instructions for making a simple Advent wreath are given at the beginning of the book. Events before and after Jesus' birth are acted out by moving the figures of the nativity scene closer and closer to the stable.

Recommendation: Celebrate Jesus! at Christmas is an easy-to-follow approach for a meaningful Advent season. Aimed at families, this book offers straightforward activities that will let even your smallest ones begin to understand the events surrounding Jesus' birth and its significance to us today.
